About Jen

I am an Elkin contemporary children’s/family photographer and I love what I do! Being a mommy is my full-time job so although I LOVE taking portraits, I only have a limited availability to book photo shoots. I understand the importance of customer service, showing up on time and delivering the results as promised.  My previous business experience which taught me discipline and concentration is balanced with sensitivity and a strong eye for creative expression.  I photograph in both formal/traditional and contemporary styles.  I’d love to hear from you regarding your photographic needs…wants…desires…

Why do I love what I do? Photography is something I’m truly passionate about.  I get to be creative, I adore capturing children, their imaginations and personalities!  What could be better then capturing a moment and creating art that will be cherished for years to come?

Things I LOVE in a picture…natural expressions, laughter, smiles, silly giggles and even grumpy frowns, personality, emotion, barefeet, relationships and simplicity. I find sweet little babies irresistible, and pregnant women are amazing.

My other LOVES…my husband, who is my best friend and biggest supporter, my little girl Ella who teaches me and inspires me daily, laughing, photography, warm sunny days, a good challenge, anything girly, the color yellow, baby boutiques, baby feet, good chocolate and a great glass of wine.

My approach to photographing people is with patience, respect, and intuition.  You’ll find me using mixed light, both natural and strobe.  I carry with me very few gadgets, and let my subjects set the mood.  I am a member of Professional Photographers of North Carolina (PPNC) which allows me to attend many amazing events and continue to educate myself and grow as a photographer.
